It still shocks (and mostly just disappoints) me how SHOCKED people are when I tell them that it is 100% legal to be fired simply for being gay.
They look at me like I’m lying and say things like “nooooo, that can’t be right?”.
I have been fired twice (in Ohio) for being openly gay.
I have been asked:
to not wear my wedding ring
Not acknowledge my wife’s existence
To “just say you have a husband”
To just not answer “yes” when people ask if I’m married because “you’re not REALLY married”
To not bring my wife to the company FAMILY Christmas party
Let people just assume we’re sisters
Just make it easier on everyone and “just say you’re divorced”
These were not requests made from some Mom and Pop shop, I was a corporate executive for a large chain of high volume restaurants. My boss was the Director of Human Resources, and she would walk into my office and say the most ignorant things you can imagine.
People in America need to be educated on the reality that is life as a gay person in this country.
It’s not all gay pride parades and appletinis.
We need a leg to stand on.
We need people to wake up and educate themselves on the rights we are denied.
We need people…gay, straight, and in between, to open their eyes, stop ignoring what doesn’t directly effect them, and educate themselves.
IF THIS APPEARS ON MY DASH ONE MORE TIME AND GEORGIA’S STILL ON THIS LIST I’M GONNA CUT SOMEONE
I LIVE IN WISCONSIN I AM OK
But not good enough because look at all that colours no just no
13 Photos From Taiwan’s First Same-Sex Buddhist Marriage
Huang Mei-yu and Yu Ya-ting wed Saturday in a traditional Buddhist ceremony. Their union still isn’t recognized by the Taiwanese government, though support for gay marriage is mounting across Asia.

Buddhist Master Shih Chao-hwei performed the ceremony, giving the women his full support: “I am certain you will lead a life of happiness together, especially after you have overcome so much difficulty and societal discrimination,” he said. “You have blessings not only from the Buddha, but also from those whom you may or may not know who are in attendance.”
Two women tied the knot on Saturday in Taiwan’s first same-sex Buddhist wedding, a move rights groups hope will help make the island become the first place in Asia to legalise gay marriage.
Fish Huang and her partner You Ya-ting, both wearing traditional white bridal gowns, said “I do” in front of a Buddha statue and exchanged prayer beads rather than rings in a monastery in Taoyuan, in northern Taiwan.
Nearly 300 Buddhists chanted sutras to seek blessings for the couple, both aged 30.
Shih Chao-hui, a female Buddhist master who presided over the ritual, hailed it as a historic moment.
“We are witnessing history. The two women are willing to stand out and fight for their fate… to overcome social discrimination,” said Shih, a well-known advocate for social justice.
Zoe Smith, gold medalist at the 2008 Commonwealth Youth Games at the age of 16.
Zoe Smith was harassed via twitter recently because some female stated she looked o manly and no guy would go for that. Here is the article. Seriously, shes an 18 year old Olympian in lifting, and you have a problem because she’s too muscular for you? wow.
Part of the article:
“We don’t lift weights in order to look hot, especially for the likes of men like that,” Smith wrote. “What makes them think that we even want them to find us attractive? If you do, thanks very much, we’re flattered. But if you don’t, why do you really need to voice this opinion in the first place?
“Shall we stop weightlifting, amend our diet in order to completely get rid of our ‘manly’ muscles, and become housewives in the sheer hope that one day you will look more favorably upon us and we might actually have a shot with you?
“This may be shocking to you, but we actually would rather be attractive to people who aren’t closed-minded and ignorant. Crazy, eh?! We, as any woman with an ounce of self-confidence would, prefer our men to be confident enough in themselves to not feel emasculated by the fact that we aren’t weak and feeble.”
It was reported this week that Chick-Fil-A president Dan Cathy publicly declared that Chick-Fil-A is in support of “traditional” marriage and family, and that attempting to define marriage in other ways is “inviting God’s judgment.” This might mark Chick-Fil-A’s as the first anti-gay chicken sandwiches in the nation. In response to the Chick-Fil-A statement, other fast food chains quickly voiced their positions, gathered in the graphic above.
So on saturday of CTcon, this little girl came up to me and a couple of other homestucks are hanging out on the second floor. She was interested in our outfits and asked what they were. None of the others knew how to explain homestuck to such a young girl, but me with my love of kids couldn’t resist. I knelled down, as karkat and introduced myself as a troll from outer space. She asked if we were aliens and i said that we were as alien as she was. She giggled and called me a cat cause she couldn’t remember the full name karkat. I introduced gamzee as my silly clown friend who likes pie, sollux as a cool troll who likes computers and bees, and feferi as the troll princess. She liked feferi the most. i asked the little girl if she was a princess and she said yes. I got up, took my friend poots dressed as calliopes horns after introducing them to each other and put them on the little girl with her consent. I had the feferi dub her in as the new troll princess and she took off the horns, gave them to calliope and hugged me. She said i was her favorite cat.
This is adorable! I’m glad more people are coming around about size discrimination. Anyone who talks about someone else’s size behind their back is a weak person…I’m so happy I’ve never had to see that happen in public.
GPOY when I discovered the Adipositivity Project and fat acceptance on Tumblr.
There we go. I’ve continued the sassy coming out ace card to extend to more orientations. These are intended as a joke, but they might actually come in handy if you’re being questioned about your orientation and you need a sassy retort.
[Note: I’ve also edited the asexual one for optimum readability. If you are visually impaired, I would greatly appreciate your feedback on the legibility and readability of these comps. I wanna make sure everyone can enjoy my designs, not only those with good vision. So your feedback is a big help!]
